Hy HK USP tactical will only cycle correctly about 20% of the time with the blackside on

I’m having issues with the spend brass not ejecting about 80% of the time when running the blackside. The spent brass gets caught between the barrel and slide as the next round tried to load. So the brass gets pulled from the barrel, but doesn’t have enough push to flick it out. So most of the time after a shot the slide is jammed mostly open with spent brass blocking it from closing.

Today at the range ~150 rounds w/o the blackside it ran without any problems. Then ~150 rounds with the blackside it ran about 20% of the time without any problems. The ammo used was Federal 230gr FMJ and MFS 230gr HP.

My HK USP was purchased new by me in 2006 with about 1200 rounds down the pipe. Without the blackside it throw the brass about 15’ to the right and 2-3’ behind. I’ve never has an issue with the HK not working ever. It’s been 100% reliable up to this point where I tried to use it with the blackside.

After spending $550 for the blackside and $200 for the stamp I feel stupid that this cool new toy of mine can’t be shown off to my friends because it won’t cycle my HK most of the time.

Sounds like to me the suppressor is too heavy and will damage your frame if that turns out to be the case.  Does the Blackside have a recoil booster or Neilson device in it?  If so then you may need the springs changed to be more in tune with your pistol.  If it does not check the weight on it.  IIRC the USP can have no more than 7 ounces attached to its barrel or it will not function correctly and resulting frame damage will occur.  And as I am sure you know, the Blackside is not a HK approved suppressor so any damage that happens is between you and Blackside or fixed on your nickel.

5.2 ounces and no recoil booster or Neilson device............the add say they aren't needed

5.2 ounces should be well below the maximum weight.  Since a suppressor is designed to work with sub-sonic ammo best, it should not be a situation were the ammo you are using is underpowered.
Honestly, a call to Blackside seems to be in order. Something is sure not right because the Tac runs perfectly for most people with most suppressors.

Quick question, does the suppressor contact the front of the slide?  Again, IIRC it should not in a suppressor without a recoil booster.

Nope, not even close to touching the slide.

Hopefully Gemtech can clue me into what might be the problem.

Hmm...is your gun up to factory spec or has it been modified?  I've got well over 2k rounds through my Tactical / Blackside combo with no issues to date.

Unmodified USP Tactical.  Gemtech said to run Fed AE 230gr FMJ DRY for a while and then if that works well try wet.  I never ran it dry and always used Clearglide per thier advice.  Going wet they said to measure (I guess da mated) the gel so I dont overfill the can which adds to much weight.  We shall see............going to the range the week
