usp 45f pointers > H&K

i have a usp 45f and when i first got it i was shooting low and to the left. followed some advice and was getting better. i got night sights put on today and was shooting high and to the left all day. are my sights off now or did i develop a new bad habit? also twice my slide failed to stay back after the last round fired .

What variant are you using?

Chances are you just need to practice more with it. Does it feel overly large to you? The size can effect your grip and how you shoot it...

The slide lock back is simply a magazine issue. Only use HK factory mags. If need be replace the magazine springs.

variant 1 . i do have small hands and thought that it might be playing a part. i have hk mags only.

Please allow me to add that some dry firing will show you what you may be doing wrong. Watch the fron sight during dry firing & you'll see it wander if you're not pulling it straight back as one should.

Try using the "correction chart" target from this link below. It helps develop a better more consistant grip.

This may sound stupid, but if the slide locks back normally when you are not firing (clearing the gun, etc.) then there is a good chance your thumb was on the slide stop, I have this problem with Sigs and XDs.

HK factory .45 magzine springs are also quite weak. Several of us like to replace them with Wolff springs to ensure slide locking.

I keep reading this, but either I'm too stupid or very lucky in that I haven't had any problems with either 12 or 8rd mags..................

I have shot a lot upwards of 30K thru my HKUSPf in 45 with 10rd OEM mags. After a while I problems with mag springs. I replaced them all with Wolf springs. No problems. I have a compact with about 8K thru it, and I have not had a mag problem yet.

I think it's only a problem in the 10 rounders.

I put a set of the Wolf +10% springs in some 12 rounders and the best I could muster was 11 rounds. Bloody fingers couldn't get the 12th round loaded :( so I went back to the factory 12 round springs.
