Ok. I love the 45 ACP. I have the fullsize HK USP 45 and I also have the Springfield XD 45 as well. I am looking for something a little smaller for use as a daily CCW. My fullsize USP is the best weapon I have ever owend and I absolutley love my XD but they are a little too big. I know the compact USP isn't a whole lot smaller then my XD but I like the idea of carrying one int he chamber and having it in DA mode with the hammer decocked. Seems a little dafer then the XD even with the 2 safeties. Any ideas or suggestions? All I know is I want that HK. |

I have a USP45c and also an XD45 service model. The USPc is more concealable than the XD or a full size USP (almost identical in size to the XD45, I compared them side by side). With as wide and chunky as the slide is on the USPc though I would find something slimmer to conceal, it could be done, but since you are stuck with 1911 capacity (8+1) why not carry a 1911? ETA: I love the V1 HK action, can't think of a better setup for CC either, you can carry cocked/locked or hammer down with no problem. |
| I've been carrying my USPC .45 for about 5 years now and love it. It is just enough smaller than the full size so that it fits me perfectly and in fact, I shoot better with this pistol than I do any other HK pistol made, including the Tac, Expert, Elite, and SOCOM. One is going to shoot a pistol that fits better than a pistol that does not fit, plain and simple. Now, I am talking rapid fire off hand shooting, not bench rest. Of course the match trigger, adjustable sights...of the Tac...pistols shoot better from a bench rest (not much though) but for rapid fire off hand nothing does better in my hands than the Compact. |
| I went and did it. Picked up a 45c today (V1) with 3 extra mags. Took it to the range and shot it in a row with my 45f and XD45. Shoots just as nice as the fullsize brethren. Love it. This is going to be my primary CCW. Usee the 45f (HK light and night sigts) as my nightstand gun and put the XD in the truck with the Winchester 1300. I think I have all 45ACP bases now covered. ;-) |
