I have read with interest about the 9-40 caliber conversions available in Germany. It is my understanding that they are not available in the US. Does anyone out there know if slides and barrels are available as aftermarket or replacement parts? In looking at the parts list for both the USP9 and USP40, those parts appear to be the only parts which would need to be replaced to change caliber.

It would be nice to be able to carry the 40 and practice with the 9. Certainly cheaper anyway.

I have perused the HKPro site, but it is slow and most of the posts are old. Any info or commentary helpful...thanks in advance.

I hadn't heard of these, but I would guess it would be pretty expensive.  Anytime you have to replace the slide and other parts, it will be costly, unlike the caliber conversions like .40 to .357SIG where the barrel may just drop in with little or no fitting and the magazine may work ok with the cartridge.

Where did you read about the slide swap anyway?

I saw it on the HKPro forums, and I think the Unofficial Heckler and Koch website. If you look at your manual for the USP models, all the parts are interchangeable except the slide and barrel, its the same frame and internals.

The real problem is the slide. You can buy replacement barrels from Olympic for $115. I contacted Brayley Ballistics in Australia who can ship the both of the parts, but I would have to get a BATF Form 4 - which I have heard of, but I don't really know what that entails.
