TDA = Traditional Double Action. Hammer down first shot, DA. Second shot with hammer back is SA. DAO = Double Action Only. Long hammer pull each & every shot. SA = Single Action, i.e. 1911 & High Powers. USP Compacts do have a mostly bobbed hammer & while it is difficult to thumb back the hammer, it isn't impossible if it's done from the half-cock position. My .o2 |

The bobbed hammer is for comfort, but as BobCole said you can cock it if you want to. It's really a non-issue if you're looking to be cocked and locked, as the slide cocks for you when you lock & load. But I get the impression you're asking just to make sure it's not a DAO -- as others have stated, it certainly is not. |
