Hey guys, I'm new to HKs so bear with me please. CDNN has Variant 1 USPc's in 9mm for 599. Now here comes the noob question, is this pistol SA/DA or DAO? I was under the impression that Var 1 means SADA, but with the bobbed hammer I immediately think DAO. So what gives? Thanks

TDA = Traditional Double Action. Hammer down first shot, DA. Second shot with hammer back is SA.

DAO = Double Action Only. Long hammer pull each & every shot.

SA = Single Action, i.e. 1911 & High Powers.

USP Compacts do have a mostly bobbed hammer & while it is difficult to thumb back the hammer, it isn't impossible if it's done from the half-cock position.

V1 is DA/SA with left side safety / decock lever (for right-handers) and can be carried cocked and locked or hammer down on a chambered round...your choice.

Definitely not DAO.

The bobbed hammer is for comfort, but as BobCole said you can cock it if you want to.  It's really a non-issue if you're looking to be cocked and locked, as the slide cocks for you when you lock & load.

But I get the impression you're asking just to make sure it's not a DAO -- as others have stated, it certainly is not.
