I've got a brand new fullsize usp45 with 10 round mags, and quite a bit of the time when i'm loading them, they don't seem to load right. When they're loaded right, the primer of the first round loaded into the mag will be showing through the #10 hole on the back of the mag. But sometimes when I load them it seems like they're not stacking right inside the mag, and i'll only be able to load 8 or 9 in comfortably. I'll be able to really force the 10th in, but it's really difficult, and when I look at the #10 hole on the back of the mag, only the rim of the round is visible, not the primer.

It happens with both mags, and I cant seem to figure out any sort of "cause" to it. Sometimes it happens, sometimes they load just fine.

This happen to anyone else? Know of any solution?

Thanks

What you can try is to load your new mags full and keep the rounds in there for a little while "days"perhaps to relax the spring a little.

Some times you have to work the shell casing straight back and down in one swift motion.  You should not have that stiff of spring in the mags.  Wait till you replace the mag springs with some Wolff springs! Talk about stiff!

I disagree with the other two posters here-- I've encountered the same problem with my 12 round mags.  Further, if I shoot with 11 rounds badly stacked, there is usually a jam.  I don't know of any way to correct the situation, just monitor how many rounds you've put in to make sure you get the correct stacking pattern.

I put 150 rounds thorugh it so far and didn't have any jams. Maybe I'll try leaving em loaded correctly for a day or two to see what happens.

I got  my first usp tac 45 in early april I have the 12 round mags though and have never had any trouble getting the rounds in and never had any jamming. my friend got his glock 30 about a month before i got my gun and he had trouble getting all 10 rounds in his mag at first but after about a week of loading the mags it loads just as easy as mine.  also i dont use a speed loader or anything like that. if you use one maybe that has something to do with it.

I experienced the same thing (as original post) just today with my 40 compact.  Exact same thing.  I managed to get the 12th round in but then the mag wouldn't click into the gun.

I took out all of the rounds and reloaded and it worked fine.  They must have "cross stacked" themselves, that's all.  I'm sure it's because it's brand new.

Have you tried tapping the back of the mag to seat & maybe realign the rds?????????

I lightly slam the loaded mag on my palm to ensure all are seated.  No problems so far.

I had that exact problem with some .40 cal mags for a USP f.

Smack them on the table when they start to stack funny.  Eventually, the spring will loosen up and you won't have that problem anymore.

Yeah, they feel like they're getting a bit better. I'm just going ot get them loaded properly and leave them like that for a day or two to see how it goes. Thanks guys.

yeah i get a bad stack every now and then with my 45 tactical and .357sig compact, i just unload and reload

then again on mine i end up a round short most of the time if the stack is messed up
