I am looking at getting a USP compact. Primarily for target use, but also for occasional carry (mostly in vehicle)and nightstand duty. I was looking at a glock 19 also, but prefer the HK feeland a manual safety. Can a HK with the LEM trigger be carried "locked and cocked" like a 1911 so the first trigger pull is SA?

Think about what you just asked.  Can a DAO (which the LEM trigger is) be carried cocked and locked?  Don't thump yourself too hard.  If you want to carry cocked and locked get either the V1 which is DA/SA with safe and decock and can be carried cocked and locked or get the V 9 which is DA/SA but only has the safe feature, no decock on it for people prone to ride the safety and think they my activate the decock at a very bad time.
The LEM trigger is strickly a DAO trigger be it in the USP, USPC, P2K or P2KSK.  It cannot be cocked and shot SA.  The P2K does come in V3 though that is not a LEM trigger but rather a SA/DA with decock only.

Sorry for the dumb question. I obviously didn't know the LEM was a DAO.  The explanation of the other variations is very helpful.

Actually your question was not dumb at all.  If you did not know, and you asked and got an answer, how could it be a dumb question?  I though you were just having a brain fart there for a moment.

Nor did I. I was mixing it with the Match trigger, I guess?

Not having enough ammo?

What do you mean by "which one" you have? Which varient? If so, you most likely have varient 1 as they're the most popular/widespread. If you have SA/DA with a safety & decocker, then it's a varient 1. Carry cocked & locked that way too.
