Ok.  I've ordered a HK .45 Tactical from an authorized HK dealer for a law enforcement purchase.  The thing is, I ordered it 5 weeks ago!!  I've got the itch bad, but nothing to scratch it with.  How long is it going to take to get this sweet machinga from HK.  I hope not another 5 weeks!

Why on earth would you do that when there are plenty of dealers that have them in stock? They most likely won't be getting it directly from HK, but rather one of HK's US distributors. Are you sure the gunshop placed the order yet? I've heard a lot of stories of gunshops sitting on their asses when it comes to such things.

I purchased it from Cheaper Than Dirt.  I've called "several" times to verify and they tell me the order has been placed but they have to wait on the distrubutor.  They've offered to give me my money back, but the only reason I haven't yet is b/c of the price.  I got it for $850 plus tax.  If I can find another dealer in the DFW area who has one in stock for around the same price, I'll get my money back and go and buy it.  They told me at first it would take maybe 1-2 weeks, and I was OK with that.  But now, 5 weeks and counting with no arrival date?  I'm all for going else where.

That is a good deal. I paid $915 with shipping and FFL transfer fee. It's a sweet pistol. The only thing I might consider trading/replacing it with is a Springfield Armory TRP Operator, but I'll just buy one to keep my Tactical company.

It's unfortunate that you have to wait that long.

We can get HK .45 Tacticals in about two days.

I was at Cheaper than Dirt earlier this week and they had a tactical for sale in their display case...  it had a green frame though.

I'm looking for a black one.  Thanks for the info though.

WHen going directly through HK, it takes forever and a day to get anything.
We are located in Chantilly VA, and HK is just down the road in Sterling, but the guns never seem to come in a reasonable timeframe.
We have pilots who have purchased their HK's on the FDO program, and we have one order from DECEMBER that still hasn't arrived.
All we are doing is facilitating the transfer. We don't take payment, as they buy direct from HK.

Having your dealer order direct from HK is almost always the wrong way to go.  A friend of mine who works for a then HK direct LEO/military dealer ordered a P7-M8.  He was told it would be there in a week.  Six weeks later it still was not there.  Two weeks later after much bitching it came in, but without the night sights which were paid for in advance.
NEVER have your dealer order from HK direct.  While it might cost you a few bucks more to get your dealer to order from RSR, Accusport, or Lew Horton, at least you will get your pistol before you are too old to use it.

I am finding this out!  I am looking for alternatives now, even if I have to pay a little more.  If anyone knows a good place to get an HK in the DFW area, let me know.

HELL YES!  Give Bachman Pawn and Gun a call in Dallas.  Best prices in the country for the most part.  Be sure to speak with wholesale because their prices are much better than counter prices.  Bachman sells on GunsAmerica and advertise in Gun Lists and Shotgun News.  They do not have a web site or e-mail.

I sent them an email off of Guns America for one of their tacs.

Thanks.

I had that exact same problem with my P2K (night sights also). Fortunately the local dealer I ordered it through went out of their way to make it right. I expected HK's customer service to suck, but the pistol is by far the best one I've ever used. So I'm a little conflicted on what to think.

How long did it take to finally get it?

Let's see... I got it 14-16 weeks later. Yeah, took 4 months and the pistol with factory installed night sights never showed up. They sent the wrong pistol first off, it was the same as the one the shop had - no night sights. So they sent it back and got the order back in then H&K just didn't feel like sending it apparently.

We eventually just gave up on it and went with plan B. By the time I had the smithing done to put the sights on there (there was a cluster involved in getting me the right sights too) it was the middle of January. I ordered it in the middle of September.
The local shops treated me right and went well out of their way to make up for the delay.

Well, I got word today that my Tac finally came in.  I can pick it up tomorrow.  I guess the old adage is true ... Good things come to those who wait!
