| I just bought Trijicon HD sights for my VP9. Local gunsmith wants $75 to install and says he does not have the specific tool for the VP9. HK wants $90 dollars to install. Who do you recommend for the install? Having a hard time with paying $90 dollars to install $130 sights. Trying to get a fairly quick turnaround to be ready for the next IDPA match. If it wasn't for the charging supports, I could do it myself with my sight pusher. Are there any other options for installation of aftermarket sights on the VP9?? Gray guns has a 24 week turnaround. |
| Are there no other gunsmiths/gun ranges? I shoot my VP9 like a laser so I didn't want them to be 'close enough' so I took them to a range that does sight installs so it could get dialed in perfectly to my liking by dialing it in at the range and adjusting from there. I called around the ranges in-state and made a range trip out of it. Sights installed for $25 and are perfect POA/POI with a nice range session to boot. I'm sure AR has similar ranges that will do this aside from an actual gunsmith which is a bit of overkill just to install sights, at least in my experience. |

| It's not the difference of $15 that I can't decide over, it's the fact that $90 to install a set of $130 seems excessively high. Previous posts had said HK charged $45, so I am wondering why the price doubled. For that much, I might as well get the MGW Sight Pro since I would be 1/3 of the way there on cost. I thought perhaps someone on here knew of a reputable place with a better price than HK. Sounds like joining HK Pro and contacting that gentleman is the best option. |

I went the "cry once, and buy the MGW Sight Pro" route. If you think you will ever want a pistol sight tool, this is the one to get. No regrets. Except all my buddies now call me when they want new sights installed on their pistols. |

Except all my buddies now call me when they want new sights installed on their pistols. I want one of those, but they're so expensive. I understand it can pay for itself, but it's a lot to shell out for something that doesn't seem like it should be so expensive. |
| I looked around for a sight tool for a while after thinking the same thing, and didn't want to have to go to a gun smith every time I wanted to get new sights. After looking around for a while I found a sight tool that I thought looked super nice and I liked the design but could find no info on it. I decided to gamble and am extremely impressed and happy with this one I found on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handgun-Sight-Pusher-Tool-Universal-for-1911-glock-sig-springfield-and-others-/161606698787 Full disclorure I do have a vp9 but have not tried this on there yet, but it did work like a charm on my sig p226. Hope this helps and won't confuse you more. |
| I put Dawson sights on mine, the included aluminum punch did just fine drifting the old ones out and the new ones in. All you need is a bench vice and jaw pads, a small triangle file will likely be necessary if they're too tight. You could have all that for less than the $90. |

I sent mine with Dawson's to HK. I think it cost $40 and I had it back within 2 weeks. Interesting. When I called HK, they told me $90. Found a local gunsmith who will do it for $50, and found a gunsmith in NC that will do it for $30 and is an HK master armorer. |

Whatever the price was it was less than most local gunsmiths would charge and I knew HK wouldn't Jack it up since no one at that time knew how to install the rear sights with the new charging supports. |

Just had my sights changed by Teufelshund Tactical. Charge was $30/hr (1 hour worth of work) + shipping both ways. He had the package turned around within a few hours of receiving it. He is a HK Certified Armorer and obsessed with HK products. Also an ex-Marine so you are supporting a veteran owned company. Highly recommended! http://www.teufelshundtactical.com/ |
