I'm considering a USP compact in 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45. Any input for caliber? I own a .45 1911 and am confident and proficient with it just don't want to carry it. I also am 6'0" and 155 lb. so fairly light frame to say the least. Is the USP too bulky to conceal easily?
Dimension wise the G23 and the USP compact are not much different, I just had this question because I hear people say that HK handguns are too blocky and bulky for comfortable carry whereas I don't hear that complaint about Glocks as much. |

The USPs are significantly bulkier than the G23. Personally I like the Glocks better as they are lighter, smaller, yet hold more rounds than the HKs. The only exception to this is the .45s which I prefer HKs as they are thinner than the Glock equivalent. I suggest taking a look at the HK45C and maybe the P30 if you really must have a 9mm HK |

I carried a USP Compact 9mm CCW everyday for about 5 years. I currently carry a Glock 19 everyday. I only switched to the glock because I wanted more holster options...specifically I wanted to have a CCW pistol with a weapon mounted light and the glock was an easier gun to find holsters that accommodates a pistol with light. I still own and carry the usp compact sometimes.
I speak with experience on carrying both of these. The difference is size between these pistols is not an issue when carrying in my opinion. The holster you use would make a bigger difference to me. I don't notice any major difference.... The glock stays cleaner than the HK. My USP would be full of pocket lint after a month or so of carrying, the glock doesn't allow much lint and junk inside. I will say that there are more ccw holster options today than there was 10 years ago for the HK. I actually had to have a custom kydex holster molded for me at one point because there wasn't any available. Now it seems like every major kydex holster maker has HKs as an option. |
