To many variables to your question. Everyone is going to have a different answer, and most of those answers won't apply to you and your needs. Hands on (IMHO) is the ONLY way you're going to know what suites you. If at all possible shoot both before making a choice/buying.

this +1

but in my opinion, for my needs I would get the compact. You can always use bigger mags in the compact, thereby making the grip longer but you cannot make a fullsize shorter.

First off the bat if you have neither, the 45C and here is why.

It is the perfect size for carry and range use.
Accepts the smaller more concealable 8 round or fullsize 10 round magazines.
Same reliability as the fullsize brother, recoil is more but still one of the softest shooting .45's out there, though it does like to flip up due to the short barrel.

Hmmm....are we supposed to guess which one you want or tell which one you should purchase?

+1 for the advice about a "hands on " decision.
I handled both the 45 and 45c, the 45 just spoke to me and was a perfect match for me.

I just purchased  the HK45 a few weeks ago. I have other pistols for CCW, and wanted a full size 45, not to mention its an HK and just always wanted it.

You just reminded me I gotta post some pics.

PS- flip a coin, it's a win- win either way

For CCW you want the compact.

As a combat piece and HD piece you want the full size. The rail on the compact ill not fit a standard Surefire or light of choice.

Here is your answer.^^^

However, among the guys I know who own both, most say that if forced to get rid of one, they would keep the Compact and let the full size go...but they are all CCW guys and that would make a difference.
