My mustang slide has peened back at the slide stop. I am thinking about buying an extra slide from Numrichs. Any one have experience with this? I am guessing the slides they sell are used? Will I have better luck with a blue or stainless as far as holding up and not peening back again?

Thanks

Call Colt and ask them.  Possibly they will repair or replace the slide?

Funny you mention this. I called them this morning and they said it isn't under warranty but they still do work on them. I sent it out to them today!
I will wait patiently to see how much the repair will cost!

Will do. They have it but I have not heard from them yet. I suspect with the big recall they have on it might be a while.

The recall will definitely affect the turn around time.

Got a letter from colt today.
They state it needs a new slide stop, is missing a washer & recoil spring (it had a wolf spring in there when I sent it...)
Total for that work including parts, labor, function test and return shipping is $95.00. I have not called them to see if the slide will be repaired or just a new stop fitted.
FYI,
I asked them to quote me night sights and front strap checkering to see if I could afford it.
The sights are $235 installed
The checkering @ 30LPI is $190

I have talked to colt several times so far. I am not very impressed with their customer service. They don't seem to have very good internal communication as the customer service person I am talking to knows nothing about my gun and couldn't seem to get my questions answered by the guy in the shop. I asked him about 3 things (all of which were in my letter that came with the gun) each time I talk to him he seems to know about 1 more thing and I have to remind him about the other things. Next time I get ahold of them I am going to tell them to just send it back to me. I will wait the 10 months for cylinder and slide. Cylinder and Slide at least seems to know that the slide shouldn't have a big gouge in it where the stop is peening it back! I realize they are busy with a recall and all, but this is more like they just don't have a clue about what they are doing.

Sorry to hear about that.  Looks like I will look elsewhere.

Definitely do check elsewhere, I have called 3 times trying to get them to send it back. The first time, the CSR guy, (same one I have been talking to the whole time) said he couldn't remember anything about it and would have to check his notes and call me back. I have left 2 messages since and he still hasn't called me back! I just want them to ship it back!
I contacted Cylinder and Slide. They have a 10 month back log but will call you when ready to work on your gun and have you send it in. They seem very familiar with the problem and are confident they can make it right again.

ETA, the main reason I don't want colt to fix it is that when I asked about the slide being peened back, he said they were just going to file down the burr so that it doesn't stick out the side. That is all they can do to it unless they happen to find a used slide that isn't dented "somewhere in the market". cylinder and slide said they can weld it back in and machine it so that it fits the slide stop properly again. It just doesn't help that colt can't answer questions after many phone calls and having looked at it several times.

The Mustang slides are soft.  My stainless slide got peened with a few hundred rounds.  Bought a spare blued slide as a backup.  Now we have to see if some of the new Sig parts may interchange with hard to find Mustang parts?  Perhaps a Sig top end (barrel and slide) could be swapped?
