I don't really know how old it is but I bought it new from a local dealer although I believe he got it as long as a year or so ago. It was ordered for someone that changed their mind and bought something else. New Colt Commanders are listed on the Colt site under the XSE Series. Go to: Colt XSE Series |

The Gold Cup has a narrower Hood than the government does, IT may be an aftermarket Match grade Barrel but it ain't from a Gold Cup

My baby, *The pistol is a Series 80 Colt that was given the complete works by the late Russ Carniak. The work done includes: *Other than the barrel (Colt), and Mainspring Housing (S&A), components are Wilson. Components (barrel, hammer, etc) were hand fitted as appropriate. *Slide was cut for Wilson Nite-Eyes night sites. *Ejection port lowered *Corners were smoothed. |

Here is my first attempt at posting a photo here. This is my Series 70 Combat Goverment, that was reworked by the late Joe Bonner of Novaks. The hardchrome was done by Metaloy in a brushed finish, the grips are Kim Arhends in ebony. It was my last duty weapon when I was in law enforcement, and my favorite Colt 1911.

Lumpy,and Hobbs, Thank you for the kind words. It is kind of appropriate that Lumpy made the first comment on it. Over the summer I sent it back to Novaks, to have a smaller front sight put on. While there I had them put on the medium length solid trigger. It was recommended by Lumpy, when I was looking for a Vedeki trigger, I love it, perfect length for me. It is kind of simple, compared to some of the super practical/tactical guns out there. But I think it is just right, nothing it does not need. Right now I am working on saving enough to have a mini me of it built on a Officers Model ACP (except for the checkering on the front strap, and strong side safety only). I cannot recommend Novaks enough, they have always treated me very well. Regards, flyingrhino |
