I probably wouldn't pay extra for the flipped pony but it's very possible someone might.
That's about the nature of it. Mis-marked guns get out of the factory all the time, and always have, it's not a new phenomenon. I have seen Governments marked "Commander," upside down ponies, and some not even stamped. It is occurs enough to be "uncommon" but it is by no means rare. Usually the only time they command a premium is at a gun-show when someone unknowledgeable gets lied to by a vendor who tells him it's worth a huge premium. It's not. If you want to buy the gun, figure the price you are comfortable with for the gun for what it is and it's condition, and consider the mis-marked slide a conversation piece and unique bonus, but not as having unique monetary value. Colt is turning out some really nice stuff right now. Have you seen the new Combat Elite? Very cool. Hey wait a sec, has that frame been coated with something? It looks a little "off." |

Yup... it's kind of sad but not unheard of. I too have seen (and owned) Commanders marked Governments, Governments marked Commander, and even cocking serrations cut backwards into a slide. Goofy stuff but also the nature of things when many processes are hand done by "workers" and not gunsmiths. |
