So as shown in a previous thread, I have recently bought a  Colt XSE Government, and want to change out the beavertail to one that will be fitted to the gun. First question is which one should i buy? My second question is, does anyone know a good smith in the Houston area that they would recommend to do the install?

Use the one made by Wilson Combat. It is drop in I believe. You can call them over the phone to confirm dude. Take care.

a excellent smith is Ed Vanderberg at  pager 281 268 0312 0ffice 281 480 3180 and by the way there is no such thing as drop in. That means drop in to your nearest gun smith.

I Like Ed Brown Beavertails, here's one on one of my Colts.

I used the Wilson drop-in beavertail and am very satisfied with the results.

It's true that there is no such thing as a totally "drop-in" beavertail grip safety or barrel, etc, but there's very little filing involved to get this part to fit nicely and function properly.

I recommend Smith and Alexander.

+1

I have a Brown on my 5" and a S&A on my Commander.

The S&A feels a little better in hand IMO.

Arched MSH on both.
