My friends Aunte gave him a Commander.  When we were shooting the pistol every couple of rounds would come back and wack us in the forehead.  Whats the deal?  I thought it might be a worn extractor.  I rember reading that theese wear out.  Also how do you check to see if the barrel is worn out.  Any help will be greatly apreciated.  The model # is 52135-LW

Generally, when this happens, it's a symptom of a extractor and/or ejector that need to be adjusted, rarely replaced.
This is a job for a qualified pistolsmith.

Modern gun barrels rarely get shot enough by any but a very few shooters to get worn out.
In all likelihood, the barrel is fine, unless it's been allowed to rust and pit.

I'd recommend taking the gun to a good gunsmith for a check-up and to have the ejector and extractor adjusted.

This Commander was made in 1967.
