My uncle has one and wants to know what it's worth.  It's chambered for 38 super, I'm assuming stainless though it may be brushed nickle (more of a matt finish).  It's been shot some and the finish is inconsistent - some scuffs and some spots exhibit "polishing" from how it has been carried.  I'm not real knowledgeable on any kind of 1911 type of sidearm, but from the info I have looked up myself, I'm guessing it's about a $600-$650 gun.

If someone can can comment and confirm or correct me I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

First things first... I have a Combat Commander in that satin nickle finish and I hate the finish. It always looks dirty and doesn't wear well so for most unless they are looking for one in particular to complete a collection or something it will be a negative point. My local shop has a .45 in that finish they have been trying to sell forever.

Some would argue the same for the caliber. I happen to like 38 Super but many don't as you can't pick up ammo for it just anywhere and factory loads are somewhat limited. It really shines for somebody who reloads but is a round that has been around for a long time and is used a lot in countries that don't allow civilian ownership of military calibers since no military ever adopted 38 super.

That being said, it's fairly rare and I couldn't find any that recently sold on gunbroker to give you a current market value. Some pics would help.

I would think you could get closer to 1000 on GB. Just sold a 45 ACP 5" colt in satin nickle on GB for 850.00 about 6 months ago there are ways to clean that finish up I believe it was toothpaste that somebody recommended that I use to clean up the finish I forget what I used you can check around though. The 38 super is a fairly sought after caliber if you get it out there to a larger crowd like GB. I would try for 1000 and be happy with 900 the way the market is going now days

Give it a good rub down with Semichrome polish and it will go far toward restoring the original look of the finish.

I just bought a circa 1978 Combat Commander in 38 Super in mint condition for $700. I was told that it was a good deal. If you post some pics, we can help you out more. Do you have the box? That will add to the value as well.
