From the Delta thread
![]() This particular rail is from Dawson Precision. Their kit is great, and has the benefit of purchasing the light that has the wrap around switch. It requires drilling and tapping of the frame, and can be further reinforced by adding epoxy or even a lower temp silver solder. The benefit is that the rail itself is thin (not as wide as a standard weaver or picatinny rail), which allows it to fit in most standard 1911 holsters with the light removed. The negatives are high cost ($315 for the whole kit with light, $149 for the rail and adapter only), and no interchangebility with other lights other than Surefire. There is an adapter that fits in to the Surefire light that will only fit this type of light, which allows it to interface with the Dawson rail. Here's a link: www3.mailordercentral.com/shootingstore/products.asp?dept=1248 Another alternative is the Caspian Recon rail. It's $45, and attaches in the same manner. Although much cheaper, it is a Weaver type or Picatinny rail, and is wide. It will require a special holster. I like these though, and will post on the one I'm about to put on a Caspian. That will be in a couple months though. Also, it's kind of ugly. You can find it on Caspian's website. I can't link the actual page due to their web design. Here's a pic of a gun built by Novak's with a Caspian rail:
