Hey all

I am new to 1911's and have a couple of questions.  I have done a little background reading and have decided to purchase a Colt Rail Gun (1980RG) and a Colt Series 70 in Stainless Steel.  I have found that in addition to the original production of the Series 70 there was a "reproduction" run more recently.   I can't find any noticeable differences between the original and reproductions.   Are there?   I am looking for guns to carry and shoot fairly often, not for sitting in a safe or living on a nightstand, if that matters.  Any guidance in the differences between original and reproduction Series 70 would be appreciated.   Thanks!

The series 70 would be more like a reissue rather than a repro. The slide will have some of the machining and I think the firing pin of the series 80 but not the other parts in the frame

New Series 70 have no Series 80 machine cuts in the slide.

The reproduction series 70s have bigger sights on them. And they also don't have the collet bushing that was on the originals. And I think possibly the repos have better feed ramps for more reliability. I prefer the reproductions.
