Howdy! Anybody have any info on a Colt Defender (series 90) with a ported barrel and slide? Was this a custom shop gun? Are they worth anything, or just a fad?

Thanks,

Mike

I have one of the early defenders. I have not heard of a ported defender. Post pix.

Will do! I didn't have enough cash on me today, I had to put it on layaway.

Seems like only Springfield made them factory spec. Did the slide actually have "Colt" on it? If so, I'd bet on an aftermarket mod.

It's a Colt alright, it looks just like this onewww.colt.com/CMCI/Defender.asp, only it has Novak, or Bomar  rear sights. If christmas wasn't so close, I'd have it in my hands!

It's been smithed. While the porting will help with the muzzle flip it'll add major to the noise and trust me you won't want to fire it at night

What is the going rate for a defender?

My grandfather has one he paid $500 for. I am interested in getting one if I can find another deal like that,.

A buddy and myself each bought brand new ones about 4-5 years ago.
It has 2 small ports on either side of the front sight. Nothing special,
the ports in the slide and barrel are round, maybe 3/16 inch for the barrel
and 1/4 inch for the slide. I didn't know they made them without the ports.

Edit: now with picture

Here's a pic of my ported defender. Hope to finally shoot it today.
