I'm going over my M1991A1 following the reliability secrets posted at http://www.sightm1911.com/.  He talks about flaring the rear of the ejection port. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the flare or a good description. Thanks

I haven't cut my 1991. Are you having issues with your ejection port now?

Compared to the original 1911 and 1911A1, current commercial Colts already have a larger ejection port "window" and there is little reason to mess with it unless it dings your brass a bit and you are a serious reloader who worries about that sort of thing. It should have zero effect upon reliability.

Not having any problems. I'm working out of town (Reno), have spare time on my hands, and just looking for projects to pass the time.  Plus I can tinker with my armory without my wife asking "how many gins do you have?" which could open a can of worms !

I finally learned to not tinker with my guns after I have had too many gins, but I DID get some seriously fu*ked up projects started! (Couldn't resist it!)

Here's a pic of one slightly flared (look at the rear of the ejection port).

Thanks for the pic. Sweet looking.
I know what you mean about tinkering with your guns. disaster narrowly averted!
I have located the range and intend to do more shooting. Looking for something to do when I' at the apartment by myself.  My other choice only lasts about three minutes!
