Does anybody know any thing about Colts 08011xse Combat Elite? Thinking serious about buying one...

There isn't a whole lot to know. If one is available, and you like it, snatch it up.  Always an attractive package.

Are you looking for something specific?

I bought one a few weeks ago.  I switched out the grips and put skateboard tape on the front strap and have been shooting the shit out of it since.  No complaints yet.  I like the non-ambi thumb safety, the factory installed beavertail and Novak sights.  My EDC has all of those same features and I picked it up to be a back-up carry gun.  I may "un-Series 80" it in the future but I'm not certain yet.  I like the way the reverse bi-tone looks, too.

I bought one about six months ago. Very nice pistol with a ton going for it at a grand.
Only want is to have a Brown single 'thumb safety' fitted.

Mine has been 100% for 9 months.  I will add that I purchased it to have customized and have yet to send it off.  The one issue I have is the S&A grip safety isn't fitted as well as I would have wished, when depressed the frame is sharp where the web of my hand contacts it and the thumb safety's rear edge needs the edge taken off.  Other than that I want to add a 10-8 solid trigger, FS checkering, gold bead added to the front sight, and an overall debur and reliability package.  I am not really a stainless guy so the frame will probably get a dark coating and the slide done to match, both with a bead blast beforehand due to the polished flats.  Great gun if I didn't nit pick all the aforementioned issues.

My first 1911. I really like this pistol. Good quality and a fine shooter! The grips are fancy so I swapped them for Colt rubber grips. I have three other Colt 45ACPs The Combat Elite is my favorite. I bought mine at a gun show for less than $1000.

Bead blasted my frame after dehorning it. Will be getting Cerakoted soon. The bluing has really worn since this picture. I also fitted an Ed Brown oversized bushing to it due to the groups really opening up around the 1200-1300 mark. The original bushing on these is pretty sloppy. Now with the EB bushing fitted, it will print 1 big hole at 10 yds. I love the gun and it gets carried a shot ... well, a lot. I have no idea how many thousands of rounds are through it now, but I frequently do drills with it. I was sent back when it was an infant due to the slide rubbing the dustcover, but has been fine since then. I just bought another new CE last month. I also own a Baer, if that tells you anything. To me, the CE is a great gun for the money. The only negative I have found is the Novak sight (I personally don't like them) and the forward cocking serrations.

It you see one on a shelf snatch it up fast, I waited for close to 6 months for mine. Best looking 1911 around in my opinion.  Its hard to shoot mine at our range as everyone want to look it over. I get coments on it every time i take it out!

I looked at 4 gun shops and one  gun show before I found one and I bought it. I haven't shot it much but that is my own fault.

I've been looking for one local for 6 months, finally spotted it today and brought it home.  It seems tighter than the Springfield in every aspect, and the finish is really nice.  I will say my Springfield's safety is more comfortable and the click on and off is more positive.  The springfield also has the better trigger, but it has a thousand more rounds downrange than the Colt.  The Colt is a beautiful weapon and I have zero buyers remorse, i say buy buy buy.
