hello, I recently inherited an Interarms PPK and have taken it shooting twice and the gun consistently locks open with rounds still in the mag, I'm using the factory mags that came with it and standard pressure lead reloads, I'm just wondering what would cause this in a PPK? springs that need replacing? any help is greatly appreciaited

What kind of ammo are you shooting?  Is it a 380 or 32 ACP?  I have a 32 ACP PPK/S (older german) and it doesn't like certain ammo (particular Winchester 32 ACP). The Winchester has the flat nose.  I tried different ammo and it shoots great.

this one is a .380, the ammo feeds fine and I haven't gotten any stovepipes or failures to feed (other than because the slide won't go back forward)

Look inside and see what is holding the slide back. If it is the slide

stop, look and see what is applying pressure on it. I wonder if you

slide stop spring is weak or broken and allowing it to swing up under

recoil.

As above, a common cause of premature slide lock in the PP series is a missing or damaged slide lock spring.
The spring is sometimes broken or damaged, or simply not re-installed after someone removed the slide stop/ejector and either didn't notice it fell out, or couldn't get it back in.

Here's an exploded view of the PP series.   The slide stop/ejector spring is part number 31.  It fits into the slot on the slide stop/ejector.  It can be aggravating to get it in place.

If the spring is missing or damaged, you can buy new ones here.  Note that the new S&W model parts are often different than the older Interarms models.  However, the Interarms models are interchangeable with the German made guns.

thanks all for the replies! when I've checked what was holding the slide open it was in fact the slide stop so I would guess it is the slide stop spring as you all have suggested, I'll have to take it apart and see and I'll probably just replace all the springs in it anyway
