I bought a used P22 last week (got a screaming deal on it). I downloaded the bible however I must admit alot of the "tweaks" are beyond what I am comfortable with. Would any of you know if the other of the bible will do this for other folks or is there a place I could have this done? Probably sounds stupid but I thought showing up at local gun smith and asking them to perform these mods might get me a . any help would be appreciated.

Shoot it before you go tweaking the pistol. You may find it works fine as-is. I too read that and planned all sorts of work to get it functional and reliable, but then I took it out in the woods for a couple of days. Worked just fine. Only problem I had is with a certain brand of bulk box ammo. Unfortunately, I don't remember which. |

i only had two problems with mine, federal bulk didn't seem to work in it very well, And i wore out the hammer! |

If you ever have a part that wears out call S&W (1-800-331-0852) and they will send you the part for FREE! Either that or a shipping label to send it in, they just replaced all my springs and the barrel and I bought the pistol used from a private party.
If you want to do the work yourself, just let them know that you don't want to send it in and you are comfortable working on it yourself. If you do send it in you will generally have it back in your hands in two weeks or less. |

I am very pleased with my p22. It is the AK series with the 3.6 inch barrel. At 7 yds I was shooting 1.5 inch groups with an occasional 2 inch groups with 5-10 rounds. It took me a while to get use to the sights, but my Browning Becnchmark shoots about the same groups. If I want tighter groups I will pul;l out my target models of my Colt and Benchmark. Those guns are picky on ammo, but the p22 shot everything I fed it today.
It is a great gun for my purpose. A sidearm for me to h ave while just messing around in the field or to shoot my hogs in my traps. |

I've been a P22 owner for a month now. I haggled my way to one for $280 out the door at a local fun show. I took it to the range the same day it was purchased. It ran 100% on Federal 550 bulk and CCI Stingers. It didn't run well on Winchester 333. Those are the only .22LR I had with me at the time. The mods in the P22 bible are not hard to do at all and I am less than mechanically talented. I polished the ears on the trigger bar, ground down the safety bar (in the fire position only) and re-profiled the hammer. All of that noticeably decreased the resistance on the slide. It was very easy to do with the excellent instructions included in the P22 Bible. My P22 now runs mostly 100% on everything I've thrown at it. This includes Federal 550 Bulk, Winchester 333, CCI Stingers, CCi MiniMags and Remington Golden Bullet. Sometimes (1 out of 50ish) I have to hold down the extractor to get out Winchester 333s. I'm hoping the Volquartsen extractor I have on order will fix that problem. I'm happy with my purchase. I'm a religious firearm cleaner and now only using "dry lube" (Smith and Wesson brand, to be exact). It's a fun little gun and the "mods" can make it more reliable with underpowered ammunition. |
. any help would be appreciated.
