| Have the rails changed on the P99? The Walther website shows the P99s with a closed end rail. I noticed the Insight Lights web site states that the M6x will fit on Walters with an open ended rail system. The S&W website shows their SW99 frame with an open ended rail system (S&W and Walther supposedly use the same frame). Are the photos on the Walther site outdated? |
| The SW99 uses the standard rail unlike the P99 which has a closed in rail. Unless the P99 is now being produced with the standard rail like the P22 and SW99 none of the Insight M series lights will work with the P99. This is the downfall of having a P99 because you are basically limited to the lights and lasers that Walther offers for use with the P99. I see on the Insight site where it says P99 with open end rails but I have yet to see a P99 with a open end rail. I wonder if they meant the P22 as it has the open end rail. |

Not unless you want to ruin the polymer frame. You would have to grind the frame down in the front and that would ruin the gun. Not only that the frame is not designed the same as pistols with a standard rail. This is how they get you to buy their accessories. Accessory companies like Insight, SureFire, and Laserlyte have yet to make a light or laser compatible with the P99. This is because the demand for them is low. Since most of these products are designed for Law Enforcement and Military applications they design them for the most common guns that LE and Military use. Sucks doesn't it?
