Hi All,
I recently purchased a used PPQ M1 from my LGS. The gun seems hardly fired/as new. When I got it home , I noticed something odd and am looking for feedback. When a manually rack the slide to eject a snap cap and am gripping the rear serrations (where the extractor is located) the extractor doesn't "grip" the snap cap very well and the round is not extracted. Seems as though my grip on the slide is "opening' the extractor enough to release tension on the case. It seems I can easily manipulate the extractor with pressure to the extreme rear area. Anyone else have this? Is the extractor easy to "move on your PPQ? I have not been able to get out to the range as yet. Let me also say that everything ejects perfectly when I manipulate the slide via the front serrations or when I make sure I'm not gripping the extractor. Please help! |

The PPQ has a long extractor and it is easy to move (mine is a 9mm). The long length is what gives the extractor leverage on the cartridge. You can easily push the back of the extractor and see it move.
I suspect the snap caps are the issue. Snap caps may have a thicker rim that usual cartridges, so that may be part of the extraction issue. Anyway, I have been surprised at how nice the PPQ is-you are going to enjoy your range session. At this point I wouldn't worry about it. My bet is it will operate as it should. |
