I was given a S&W PPK/S .380 Stainless brand new in box.

I am having a failure to feed problem.
I have cleaned the gun extensively TWICE.

The first time at the range every 5 rounds or so a round would jam in the chamber with the slide failing to lock into battery.
Fired 250 rounds through it.  PMC mainly.

Cleaned gun again.   Back to range.
Better feeding this time but every 10-15 rnds I had to push on the slide to get it to lock into battery.
This was better than the first time when I had to use a flat head to get the jammed rnd out.

I had my best resualts with Winchester White box but also used American EAGLE?  I think they are Remington rounds?
Also burned up the rest of the PMC.

So after 500 rounds I have a couple of failure to feed problems every 10-15 rounds.

I was thinking a stiffer barrel spring (no guide rod)?
Lapping compound to smooth things out?
Return to store for repair?
Send to a gun smith to get it tuned up?

What say yea?

Wow, very sorry to read about your problems with the PPK/S.  You say you cleaned the pistol so I assume you also lubed it very well.

American Eagle is Federal's top of the line range ammo, BTW.

S&W has excellent customer service.  They were great recently when I had some FTE problems with a new M&P 9.

I'd get it touch with them and see what they suggest.

Good luck, keep us updated.

Yeah I tried my usual CLP / BreakFree lube job.  I tend to run my guns a little "wet".

I also went to Larue's Machine Gunners lube for the second range trip.

I love the gun as it is dead on accurate and feels great when I shoot it.  Trigger is smooth.

Might just have to take it in.

It is suppossed to be my CCW gun when I'm in shorts and T-shirt.
The official FL uniform.

Contact S&W and ask them to send you a UPS pickup tag so they will pay the shipping.

DO NOT attempt any lapping or send it to another gunsmith.  The gun is under S&W warranty and anything you do or have done will void the warranty.
You paid for a good gun.  Let S&W correct it on their dime.
