| Just picked up my new tcp today. Well it was new but taurus sent it dirty as all hell. The gun looked as though it had been fired and sprayed down with oil inside. After a quick cleaning it was looking pretty good, so I took it out and fired some golden saber through it. I have to say that I am very very impressed with the gun, Had no issues what so ever and the gun has suprisingly less recoil than my p3at. I think the grip is just designed better. I am pretty happy with my purchase, paid 299.00 |
| I just purchased one also, I'm very impressed. I haven't shot the LCP or the KT, but I've read quite a few forum posts with complaints about the recoil on them. I didn't even notice recoil on the TCP, different grip configuration helps perhaps? At any rate, for what it is, a small caliber pocket gun for the t-shirt and shorts weather I'm very impressed. |
| I had the KT first then traded it for the LCP. Got rid of it and bought the TCP. I have shot all 3 quite a bit and prefer the TCP. This one I will keep. I like the trigger better than the other two and it feeds everything I have shoved in it. I shoot different types of ammo in all my guns till I find what it and I like best and feel the most comfortable with. Right now it is loaded with Hornady Critical Defense. |

Posting for my dad:
He just got one and it is having trouble in a few areas. First the magazines cannot be inserted without pushing the magazine release in. Both mags hang up. Second is according to the manual it says it fires DAO but his does NOT (unless they are using the term to mean a long trigger pull). He has to rack the slide to cock the striker. Third: (more of a concern) With the slide locked back the barrel really flops around and I know the barrel can move around so long as it has a good tight lockup when in battery but, it seems excessive I told him to call Taurus to see what is going on. What is their customer service like? |
| This is for benzo. First off, the tcp is hammer fired and not striker fired. You do have to rack the slide in order to make it fire. DAO means you have a long but light trigger pull each and every time you pull the trigger. When the slide is locked to the rear there will be alot of play with the barrel and another issue will be if you put the retaining pin in wrong. With this pistol there is no second chance firing like on some of the other ones. If you squeeze the trigger and the round does not go off you have to rack the slide to recock the pistol. From what I can tell from your post the only concern that I would have is the inability to insert the mags without pushing the mag release in first. As far as their customer service goes I have never had to send my guns back to them but I did need to get a part for one of them and I had it in a week. Good luck with the gun as I truly like mine. |

Ok, update. I picked up my tcp today and went straight to the range(the store I bought it from has an indoor range). Overall I am very happy with the gun. I thought it handled very well, accuracy was good, and it functioned perfectly with three of the four ammo brands I used. Chest-head double taps at seven yards were easy. Now to the ammo. I fired 50 rds of magtech, 50 rds of pmc and 12 rds of aquila which were hollow points and my current defensive rounds. All of those functioned perfectly. I also had a 50 rd box of MFS that are in a box marked 9mm Browning short. The cases are stamped 380 APC, I had never heard of the 9mm short before but the guy at the shop assured me that it is the same round, different name. Of these 50 rounds I had 15 fail to fire |

...... now to find a pocket holster for it. I've been using the DeSantis Nemesis for my TCP. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=115445 |

The American Rifleman article claims it comes with a nylon case that clips to your belt. I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on this case. Is it possible that it looks like a phone or BB holster? Thanks...Tim It looks like a BB holster but way bigger. I have not used mine, only put it on to see how I liked it. |

Yeah, if you take a BB Curve and turn it straight up and down, you could probably fit 2 inside the case the gun comes with. It's a neat idea. But, it is definitely not quick draw. |

So far all the ones we have sold have been to happy users. They are very tight at first but loosen up quick enough. Fit and finish is tight on all the ones i have handled so far. Going to put as few hundred rounds through the company one as soon as we receive our next load of 380 ammo.
The pouch is novel but a pocket holster makes way more sense. KHolster are coming out with one for the TCP soon. We can hardly keep them on the shelf, we have been buying them every time a distributor has them because they are extremely popular and the price is right. |
| My brother in law had some issues with his at the range. He disasembled his cleaned it and put it back together. Shooting standard fmj at the range the slide lock was locking back after almost every round fired and the pin that holds the slide on was coming out. I have yet to take a look at it to see what the issue is but that doesnt sound that good. lol |
| I had been looking for a small pocket pistol to CCW and recently heard Taurus was making a new one. A friend saw one at a dealer earilier this week and said it was really nice. I had been looking at the KelTec and LCP and had been trying to decide if the extra $$ for the LCP was worth it. Well after looking at a TCP today, I bought one. The dealer layed all 3 ( KT, LCP and TCP) on the counter to look at. The TCP fit my hand better and the trigger was much smoother, IMO. Now to get out and put a few down range. Seems to fit my need perfectly. Not sure about the belt holster thing, not bad but kinda looks like a "man purse" for your belt. Concels well, and will use it until I find something. My friend has a JS for a KT that is just a lttle small for the TCP. Oh ya it $280 with 2 magazines and holster thing. |
