I shot my stainless PT1911 today for the first time today, (a shame having owned it for nearly 3 months now) and I am so pleased with it I could do the LeDouche happy dance for a week and that wouldnt even start to explain how happy I am with it. it is VERY accurate, very smooth, feeds like a dream, feels great in my hand, and absolutely 100% reliability. I doubt I will ever spend another dollar on a high end 1911, becuase (especially for the money) this sucker shoots better than I am able to.  I cant believe anyone would ever want anything more...

glad you are happy with it, just hope you never have to send it back for warranty work.

taurus has a bad rap on gun forums. i've read a few horror stories about customer service from them. some people call the guns complete junk. imo the raging bull i've fired doesn't seem to have any problems.

I own 3 or 4 taurus's and I havent had a problem with them at all. I'm a member of an all taurus forum also, and they praise thier customer service for being fairly quick and courtious. I do have a friend that had a taurus that he had problems with, and he had problems with it, and sent it back and he swore hed never own another taurus becuase of it. but I love all of mine. I put my PT1911 in an entirely different catigory than my springers. I do have a colt that blows away pretty much everything I have ever shot, but it has had a LOT of custom work done to it.

exactly most people "hear" about this and that. and most people that talk about the horror stories have no actual real world experence.

btw congrats on the new 1911, and i am as well glad that you like it.

I have sent three back for various problems. One was a used gun, one was caused by non reccomended ammo and one from wear. All were returned in a reasonable amount of time and repaired correctly. Some people expect a two week turnaround and if it take longer than that everyone gets badmouthed.

I have owned five of them and still have four. Waiting for the PT709 with baited breath.

Who else offers a warranty like Taurus?
Buy a used gun and get it fixed under warranty.
Kinda like buying a zippo or craftsman tools.
Years ago I sent my pt92 in as rear sight was "off" had it back in about 2 weeks, with an apology for the mishap and a $15 gift cert. assume for reimbursement of my shipping costs. They had me hooked from that point on.
Don't think they give cert's. anymore as it was when they were still new in the US market.

I have had to return guns to Taurus for warranty work. It takes several months to get stuff back from them (sometimes 3).

Glad you like your pistol and hope it stays this way for you.

Quick question guys.  I didnt want to start a new thread just thought I would ask it here.

I just got a PT1911 in a trade.  Are the Heine straight 8 sights supposed to be dark as in no color inside the dots of the sights?

Not as far as I am aware. Should be white, I think.
