I've been looking at some Taurus snubbies, mainly the CIA models. I really like the feel and weight of these guns, but haven't shot one yet. I've heard about Taurus reliability, value, etc, but one thing that bothers me is that little lock thing on the backstrap. Have any of you seen one of these fail in use? Heard any reports of this on any model? On the S&W forum, they're tracking issues with the new internal locks, but I'd like some info on any problems on a Taurus, if they exist. Thanks, Superchief |

I had some spring issues with the ultra light model 85, mainly the firing ping spring after about 300 rounds and the center pin spring. EDIT: I just got up to look at my revolver to check which springs it was, I unloaded it and dry-fired it a few times and the firing spring just went again. In other words its not fully retracting the firing pin. The gun has been to the factory two times. As of this post im done with the newer model taurus guns. Thats a shame because Ive always like taurus. I have two older models circa 1987 and 1994, 6 inch barrels, and they work like charms. The new stuff seems shaky though. |
| I've got a model 85 .38SPL in titanium that I had bought used from a guy a few years ago. I've put several hundred rounds through it and I haven't had a single problem yet. I also have a PT92 9MM that I love. People seem to have the occasional problem with Taurus, but between me and several of my friends we own 6 various Taurus handguns and none of us have had a problem yet. |
