I have a PT 145 and after firing @ 50 rounds thru it I notice that the pins on the frame are coming out. I can push them back in to flush no problem but this happens every time I shoot 50 rounds or more. Anyone else have this gun? Similar Problems? Known fixes? thanks for any input Dawg |

I had a similar problem with a SW9VE. You can try some Loc-tite red (just a little on the pin b4 you push it back in. You can't even tell it's red once it drys on the black pin. You want just enough to contact the frame on both external sides not all the way through. |
| I have a PT 145 for the last 3 years. It is my daily carry gun and I've used it in a couple of training classes. All told, I've probably put close to 2,000 rounds down the pipe. My pins are tight as the day I got hte gun. In fact, I just completely disassembled the gun for the first time since purchasing it new for a complete cleaning. Give Taurus a call and send it to them. The lifetime warranty certainly doesn't hurt. |

Although my PT145 doesn't have the "walking" pin problem, I have had other guns that did. I agree with using the thread locking products (loc-tite or perma-tex). I would drift the offending pin(s) out a tad, apply a tiny amount of the thread locker with a toothpick and drift back in. I'd recommend giving it at least 24 hours to cure before shooting. I would probably try the BLUE thread locker first and if that didn't hold well enough, I'd use the RED which is quite a bit stronger. I believe RED is intended for a more permanent fix and will be more difficult to remove, if necessary. |
| There is one problem with using Loc-Tite. Heat will loosen up the red Loc-Tite. I don't know if rapid fire would produce enough heat or not. I use a propane torch to heat up bolts to remove them and didn't have to heat them for very long. Just something to keep in mind. They also make a green Loc-Tite for smooth cylindrical parts which can also be removed with heat. |
