I just picked up my brand new Sig P226R, and my Don Hume holster for the arrived in the mail on the same day!!

I am excited to start carrying this pistol, but geez the holster is very tight.  Other than just storing the Sig in the holster for a while, does anyone have any advice/methods to break the holster in any faster?

It is a leather, open top design.  Thanks for any assistance!!

in the past I have put the holster on, put the gun int he holster and then with the grip of the gun slightly twist the gun side to side and back and forth. do it very minimally, it does not take much to loosen it up abit. that and reapeately drawing and holstering an unlocked gun (look at it as practice).

Most people will tell you to put the gun in a plastic bag, like a ziplock, and then put the gun-in-bag in the holster.

I just let mine sit in the holster for a while, it takes a bit for the holster to mold to the form of the pistol. you could put it in and take it out many times and let it loosen up.

I've had god luck using the plastic shopping/grocery bags. I'll start with 1 then let it sit for a few days then if it's still too tight I'll add 1 more and continue until it's just right.

Wax paper used for cooking.  Wrap around gun wax faceing out.  Holster gun and reholster again. If thats not good for you add 2 layers of wax paper.  This will streach the leather just enough for perfect fit ;)
