I am looking to buy a companion light for a home-defense pistol. The pistol will likely end up with a Streamlight TLR-1 on it anyway, but that is to be the "backup" light. This pistol is home-use only (no carry) and the flashlight will always stay next to the pistol.

I'm thinking I might prefer to use a 90-degree head light rather than the standard 2x123 light with grip-ring. The problem is that there's not a lot of good lights like this around that I can find.

I have found the Pelican and Streamlight offerings, but these are not ideal (lower outputs) and battery choices. I'd prefer something with a LED and that takes llithium batteries, either 2, 3 or 4x123.
Anybody know anything else?

I know about the Surefire vertical forend lights, but they are about $500 over what I'd want to spend. What are some airsoft companies that sell these styles of lights? Since this light would be used hand-held, it wouldn't need to be built well enough to withstand weapon recoil anyway. Surefire sells theirs for $600, I'd guess there much be someplace making cheap similar lights but I've never run across any.
