I am looking at buying this as my first pistol. Just wondering if anyone has it and what holsters they use for it. I am thinking of getting an IWB holster and carrying it at maybe 4 oclock and see how that goes. Just wondering about what holsters you all use for this handgun or others around its size.

Thanks!

I have the sr9c. I use an IWB holster. much like this one.  Not sure on brand as i bought it on Ebay for a great deal.

Works very well. Great retention and comfortable.  Horse hide seems to work very good as a material (Soft).

Thanks for the reply. That is the type I am most likely looking at. I have read horse hide is really good. and see it costs extra to ad lol so makes sense.

I have an SR9C and love it... best pistol I have owned in years, great trigger and I have the crimson trace laserguard on it as well.
My Glocks and XDs and others get neglected much cause I enjoy this SR9C so much.
I have a Mitch Rosen outside the waist and a Alien Gear Cloak tuck for it....

I have one and love it also a sr9 full size.  The sr9c is my  Edc for six months out of the year(winter) then I switch to my shield for summer carry.  I use and highly recommend alien gear holsters.

Thanks guys. I see that a lot of people are wearing alien gear holsters during my web search. I have recently been getting ads for them on websites I visit I will have to check them out. I am glad you all love your SR 9C. My local shop, gander mountian, has one for 499.00 I believe. I have found them online for around 420.

Although I just sold mine and switched to a Glock 19, the SR9c was a good pistol. Don't buy it at Gander though. $499 is too much.

Ya I am not going to buy it there. They have everything over priced. Buds guns has it for around 410 with the cash price. Been looking around online.

I was never into 1911s but, I did buy a Ruger SR1911. I like it, its more of a Range toy, I don't daily carry it. In fact my daughter seems to love it.

I got a friend at work (Vietnam Era retired Army) that is a big 1911 freak, he has several; Kimber, Colt Gold Cup Match, and Springfield.

I like em but can't afford to shoot the 45 acp as much as I can a 9mm. That is why I wanna go with the Ruger Sr9c. Fulfills the CCW role and the range role better then a 1911 right now.

I shot the Ruger sr1911 before it was nice ran a few mags through it. I really enjoyed the Remington R1 Enhanced 1911 with the fiberoptic sights. That was a nice 1911. O and that Cz 97B (i believe that is the model) nice gun lol

Edit: do you carry your SR9C? If so what holster?

Why did you switch to a G19?

Couple reasons. First, I really do not want a magazine disconnect safety in my pistol, so I removed it right away. At the same time it makes me a bit nervous to carry a pistol that I've "removed" a safety from. Especially after reading Mas Ayoob's advice to not remove safety devices from a carry pistol. Second, I'm sick of getting pinched doing mag changes. Third, I can't get used to a manual safety and have decided I don't want one at all.

ps. I have a nice holster listed in EE for the SR9c

Those are some reservations I have about it also. With the safety device. I don't think a manual safety will bother me but that mag disconnect. And O I will check it out! Thanks for the input about switching to the G19. Those glocks just keep a running lol.

Edit: what is the link the the holster so I can check it out.

SR9C was my first carry gun. Carried IWB with a horsehide Crossbreed SuperTuck. I really like the gun a lot.  The manual safety I didn't mind as I spent a lot of time training to flick it off as I came up on my draw.

Carried it for a couple years and ended up switching to the M&P Shield 9 recently (in a Foxx holster). The thinness just won me over as I can wear a little bit lighter T-shirt without printing and even sometimes pocket carry in loose shorts. That has made carrying so much easier for me during these Texas summers.

How is the ease of shooting the shield? Are the triggers similar. That is another compact 9 I was looking at.

For me the shield is very easy to shoot. Since it's really more of a subcompact it's obviously more compact than the SR9c but weighs a little more than most subcompacts. That really helps with reducing recoil and muzzle flip. I honestly shoot them pretty much the same. Both guns are pretty easy to keep on target for quick follow up shots.

Trigger is always a preference thing but I feel the shield trigger is a little better. I like the audible reset and the pull on mine is smooth.

I would say that there's not a huge difference for me as far as shootability goes.

So that being equal, the feature set of the shield really make it a better gun.

Slimmer, no mag disconnect, and no protruding loaded chamber indicator (hate this the most on the ruger).

The flip up loaded indicator is very annoying for me too look at haha and I do not even own one! I have heard good things about the shield. Ill have to go and test one out. It seems it can be chalked up as both are good guns for relatively similar roles so pick what one you like better.

It seems to me alien gear is getting a lot of attention lately. They must have some good products and are a  new company according to their facebook page saying they were launched in 2013.

I am pretty sure that is the company I am going to get my holster from.

I just ordered a Tuck 2.0 from them also. Can't beat $35.88! They have an OWB also I was thinking about trying.

I started with a glock 22. I wanted to downsize and went to a sr9c because it was the cheaper option.  Couldn't get used to the trigger or safety and sold it for a glock 19.  In all three I used a theis iwb hoster.  I've heard good things about alien gear but never used one.  Same overall design as theis just a little cheaper.  Not saying its made cheaper or won't last, just cost less.
