Well apparently I don't know shit from shinola about 1911 mags. I've always had great luck with Colt factory mags and Wilson mags. At one point I had a Yost~Bonitz 1* build done and it shipped with a Novak mag. Didn't have a problem with it and I really liked the base plate design on the mag. So the other day I ordered some of the Novak base plates thinking I'll put them on my Wilsons. Wrong answer. Completely different form factor for installation. So are all the different 1911 magazine manufacturers using their own propriety mag body designs? If not, any clue what other mags these base plates will fit? |

Thanks. I sent them back to Novak. Should I just get Novak mags or ACT mags? They are the same thing. ACT is Italian and like MecGar they make magazines for numerous companies. S&W 1911's were coming with ACT magazines a while back, although I don't know what they are using today. There have been some documented issues with the ACT magazines where the feed lips start cracking at the top rear of the magazine, but those were magazines were well used and had thousands of rounds through them. At this point I think the issues were addressed and the ACT's are good to go. |
