| Today I was doing some dynamic training that required a lot of rushing to cover and firing on targets at odd angles. On some of the rushes, I was holstering my pistol to move while engaging with a long gun. Don't get lost in the details about why or what I was doing, but I encountered a pretty big issue with my Raven OWB holster - this thing is a brass catcher. After shooting alongside a cargo van, apparently some brass was bouncing off the van and landing in my holster. I went to reholster and the gun wouldn't go in all the way. It was a timed evolution so I jammed it in as far as I could and got moving, thinking my shirt was hung up or the holster broke or something. After another shooting position I went to reholster and the gun would simply not go in. Luckily this was the end of the stage, so I look down at my holster like WTF? Then I see a shiny object inside. There were (4) .357 SIG cases inside. The bottom of the holster is sealed, which I never thought would be an issue. If this could affect your ops please be advised of this situation. I like these holsters but I'm not using them anymore. It was also decided that the draw is VERY loud if you are drawing in a noise sensitive environment. I guess it's back to the issued leather pancake which has neither of these problems, or any problems come to think of it. |
