Anyone try the PMC .45 ACP 230gr. ball?
I'm seeing it for $360-$380/1000, which is somewhat cheaper than Federal AE and others. Just wondering if it's any good. |

Do you mind sharing the source that has it at that price? Here's one source. http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/45_acp_ammo.html $360/1000 + $52 shipping to California. They get you with shipping. Check Palmetto State Armory too. I think I also saw it at LTD for $360, but it's sold out now. http://ltdammo.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=11_19_23 |

I like to shoot .45 ACP ball that's loaded to the original 1911 ball spec, and AFAICT, the only manufacturer that loads their 230gr. ball to the spec is Federal. So, Federal AE is always my #1 choice for ball.
I was hoping the PMC was loaded similar, but I doubt it is. |

Not saying there is anything wrong with this, but PMC .45 is loaded using Russian SALUT shotshell powder.
LINK That explains the big flash some posters above have commented on and is apparently one way PMC saves money on the rounds, allowing the lower retail prices that can be found. I would suspect this powder might burn on the dirtier side than normal pistol powder, but haven't shot any so I can't comment from experience. |
