I have read that the lighter weight Gold Dots like the 155/165 have some problems opening up and penetrating compared to the 180s. My Baby Eagle compact shoots the 155s alot better than the 180s, and they are more comfortable to shoot as well.

Should I stay with the 155s, or go with the 180s. It will shoot the 180s ok, just not as well as the 155s. I have also thought about getting some Hornady TAP 155s are the really any better than the Gold Dots?

May i suggest trying 165gr W-W Ranger T, Federal HST, or R-P Golden Saber if you're into lightweight high-velocity .40 loads

Any reason why? I don't mind trying others, have shot the Golden Sabres, but in my gun the Gold Dots were more accurate. I'm trying to stay from the heavier loads, its  just I cant shot the 180s as well as the 155s. Is there that much difference between 155s and 165s?

I thought that Speer discontinued the 155 GD because the 165 was more reliable.

Don't know about that, just bought 2 boxes from my local gunstore, they had about 20 boxes.

Both the Gold Dot 155 and 180 are on Doc Robert's list and they both work. As to why the 165 did not make it, I cannot say if it failed or if it, perhaps, was not tested. If you like and can get the 155gr. rounds, go for it.
