Anyone know were you can get "44 special" ammo at reasonable prices that there isn't a "whenever you get it you get it" wait

I get all of my .44SPL from Georgia Arms, but I haven't ordered any in a while and have no idea if they have it in stock right now. But they are good folks to deal with –– give 'em a call. http://georgia-arms.com/search.aspx?manufacturer=40&log=false&category=3630 |

If you're able, reloading is a great way to stockpile.
I just ran up 200 44 specials, with a 240 grain LSWC (Keith style), winchester primers, and cases that have been through at least four reloading cycles. Even with more expensive components, I bet that I'm less than 27.00 for all of them. If you're not, Georgia Arms Ammo is a great way to go. |
I'm always accumulating reloading stuff. I got a buddy that pisses money away, of all things, RC airplanes and GOLF.....
I think that you'd be able to get into a square deal b pretty economically. after that, you're into grabbing brass, primers, powder, and bullets. After you're up and running, you'll probably find that you're not spending less, but are shooting more for the same money. There's all sorts of stuff on how to figure money, I just like that I don't have to wait for the store to be open to get my ammos, except for rimfire. drink the cool aid...Luke, I am your father.... yada yada |
| Also try "Double Tap Ammo". I think you will be impressed with thier Gold Dot loading in .44spl. I have an original Model 21 built in the late 50's that I always loaded with Silver Tips (not alot of good defensive .44spl. ammo out there),but now the double tap rest in the cylinders. |

I think that you can get the equipment from dillon pretty simply.
I'd recommend a RL 550B for all of those calibers. go to the site and get to picking. for each dillon caliber, there's a die set and a caliber conversion. You can either get all dillon (cadillac) or buy the caliber conversion and Lee precision dies (cheaper). I'd say that you can get the dillon in one caliber shipped to your house for less than 500. I'd get their video too. If it was me, I'd start with Dillon 550 and get it set in a good easy to learn caliber like 44SW. once you've gotten the experience of a few hundred loaded, I'd swap over into something else. Components are pretty easy, midway and many other places sell quality components. The reloading forum here is a good place to get ideas on best deals. |
