Has anyone tried or used "Double Tap" ammo? I'm researching some ammo for my 9mm carry piece and it'd down to the normal group- Federal HST, Gold dot, and Ranger T.
But I have found this Double Tap ammo.

http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_37

Supposedly, a 9mm +p 124 gr Gold Dot is getting 1295 fps out of a 4in poly barrel. (461 ft-lbs)
And a 9mm +p 147 gr Gold Dot is getting 1120 fps out of a 4in poly barrel. (409 ft-lbs)

I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty impressive.
Considering  the following standard loads out of a 4in barrel. (I believe a glock 19)

Federal HST 124 +p velocity 1200 fps (396 ft-lbs)
Federal HST 147 +p velocity 1050 fps (359 ft-lbs)
Gold Dot 124 +p velocity  1220 fps (409 ft-lbs)

Of course all of the velocities listed are probably 10-20fps higher than what they actually are, but even then the "performance gaps" between the rounds stay the same proportionately.

I know some 10mm guys have used this stuff and said it is indeed hot. Has anyone here used it? It seem like a really good load for 9mm, almost putting it up to 40S&W power.

I've only use the DT 10mm stuff. All of it was as good as it was rated. Some (135gr Nosler) even performed slightly better than advertised.

Velocity and muzzle energy aren't everything.  Every bullet is designed to perform within a certain velocity window, so if you step outside of that you are in uncharted waters.

what he said ^

AND

Why buy their stuff when you can get the exact same thing from Speer

If +P+ and high velocity is what trips yer trigger, then get some W-W 127gr +P+ Ranger T, or Speer 115gr +P+ Gold Dot in 50rd boxes online

Even then, the Ranger Ts are getting about 1225 fps. (423 ft-lbs)
I thought the Ranger Ts didn't expand as much as the Gold dots or HSTs. (a small amount I know)

Here's a pic of a GD 124gr +p that was shot into water and expanded to over an inch. Granted I think this is pushing the 124's capabilities.
I imagine the 147 would be best since it has more lead in it.

Amazing how much abuse the Gold Dot can take and still stay in one piece isn't it?

Ya I'd love to see the 147s
