I see a lot of references on this board to Federal HST and Federal Tactical. I know what HST is, but the closest I can find to "Federal Tactical" is Federal Tactical Bonded. Is that what is being referred to there? Basically I ask because I'm about to get a USP Compact (3.58" barrel) and I'm going to do some home testing of two loads: Federal HST 147 grain and Federal Tactical 135gr +P. The load I'm finding that most closely matches that is Federal Tactical Bonded 135gr +P -- is that the same thing? |
I just got some HST and I plan to get some bonded as well. In my case, it's .45 and both are 230 gr. The HST expands to nearly 1" and penetrates 12"; the bonded expands to .75" and penetrates about 15" IIRC. |

Last year Federal consolidated all of their LE ammo into the Tactical line. Before that the Tac Bonded was by itself. HST was moved from the Premium line to the Tactical. The 135+P is one of the rounds referred to as Federal Tactical. Now people are going to have to be specific when they say Fed Tac. Are they talking about the bonded, Hydra Shok, EFMJ,or HST. |
