What is the best One round stop, 9mm round?

One shot stop is a myth.  Wounding potential is a combination of expansion and penetration.  With that said, arguably, the best performing 9mm round is 148 gr. Winchester Ranger T, RA9T.  MJD

While you are correct about the weight being 147 gr., the round highwayman posts is arguably the best 9mm available. He is also correct in that One Shot Stop numbers are meaningless, and made up to boot. Other contenders for best 9mm are the 147 gr. Gold Dot, and 124 gr. Gold Dot +P, and 127 gr. Ranger T +P+, and the new Federal HST in heavier weights.

Incidentally, Duncan MacPherson literally wrote the book (titled Bullet Penetration) on how handgun rounds penetrate and expand. He recommends 147 gr. hollow points in 9mm. As further information, MacPherson is an actual rocket scientist who spent years studying the physics behind bullet penetration and expansion.

Nope.

Generally speaking, heavier is better.

First choice: speer gold dot or winchester ranger-T.

Second choice: federal HST (second because it's not new enough to have a real track record, though it does look to be comparable (but no better than) the speer or winchester loads)

Third choice: everything else.

The 147s are easier to shoot accurately/quickly than the 124 +P rounds for most, which would have a huge influence on how well they stop.

I would rather have more velocity than weight, but that's just me. I honestly don't notice much difference in recoil between a 147gr versus a 124gr +p round. I personally carry Winchester Ranger SXT's 127gr +p+.
