BB 180 JHP for normal carry and BB 220 hard cast for time in the woods.  So far I have not been disappointed.  For range time, just about any thing that I can get at a reasonable price to reload.

In my testing, 135 gr doesn't penetrate anywhere near deeply enough for defense. None of the 155 gr or lighter loads that I tested met minimum penetration standards except for the all copper Barnes 155 gr bullets.

I carry 165 gr Gold Dot in town and 200 gr XTP in the woods.

Take a look at my YouTube channel. I've done a LOT of 10mm testing.

175gr Critical Duty available at Cabelas.

Or my hand loads 180gr HST's at 1488fps :-)

It penetrates about 11 to 12 inches but in that first 2 to 3 inches it is like a nuclear bomb going off So much energy released from almost 1600 fps hitting the breaks in 11 to 12 inches

I carry the same gun and ammo as you from time to time.

No, sir, it doesn't. From the video I posted:

Impact velocity: 1,568 fps
Penetration: 7.9"
Retained weight: 80.4 gr
Max expansion: 0.745"
Min expansion: 0.529"

Energy has very little to do with handgun wounding. At velocities below 2,000 fps, the size of the temporary cavity is less than the elastic limit of most human tissue (excepting the brain and liver). The only significant factors to pistol wounding are projectile diameter and depth of penetration.

I use the 230gr WFNGC DT ammo for woods (i'm in bear/cougar/wolf area regularly here) and just 180grain local stuff (local made Armscor) but hope to start using some 165 underwood JHPs probably.  Of course I don't carry that big G20 in town, I carry a concealed G19.  9mm for 2 legged critters, 10mm for 4 legged.

I use 175gr Winchester Silvertips for concealed carry.

175 Win Silvertips.  I also have several boxes of the "bad" Black Talons that the media had a heyday about back in the day.  I don't practice with them, but I have a few mags loaded with them.

'88 vintage Delta Elite, with lots of Ed Brown parts on it.  I still carry it some, rotating it with my Kimber Super Carry Custom HD for EDC.  I like both of 'em a lot!

If someone forced me to carry a 10mm I would use 10mm lite 180 gr  for less recoil and more rounds on the bad guy

I carry my G20 in the winter and in the woods.

For two legged targets, 180gr Gold Dots. In the woods either 200gr XTPs loaded to max velocity or 220 gr Buffalo Bore  monsters.

There's a test of 10mm 200 gr Black Talon on my channel, if you're interested
