Due to the recent tragedy in Tuscon it seems these magazines may be outlawed one day. Does anyone remember if you could buy one anyway pre 2004? just curious as to how it worked.

Wrong forum, but to answer your question, yes you could buy them.  They were just more expensive ,since the "supply" was set at the levels that were produced before '94 and demand was never ending.  I see you are in Ca, so I am not sure of CA specific laws.

During the AWB you could buy and sell ones made before '94. The new magazine ban that was introduced would make it illegal...you could have what you already owned, but couldn't buy, sell, or otherwise transfer them regardless of when they were made.
