| not sure if this is the right place to post this question but i'm sure someone will hammer me if its not. i have ordered from dillon b4 brian enos slide-glide and used it on my 70 series commander and really liked it. i read somewhere that it actually mixes w/unburned powder and carbon and creates a lube. was looking in the brownells catalog tonite and saw that they carry it also, and describe the STANDARD as for non-compensated pistols and the Lite for compensated pistols. can someone please explain this to me? sadly, i have called brownells in the recent past w/technical questions and gotten saleswomen/men that read the product description from some literature and thats all they know. in the 70's and 80's i could talk w/a knowledgeable smith that really knew his stuff. ANYWAY... i would also like to use the slide glide in my M&P pistols too. any advice appreciated. thanks |

First, you don't get unburned powder out the muzzle of a pistol unless you're using a totally incorrect powder.
By the time the powder approaches the muzzle, it's all on fire. The bright muzzle flash you see in some guns is the already burning powder burning up in the air. Second, mixing powder, burned or unburned and carbon does NOT "make a lubricant". It turns a lubricant into an abrasive paste. As for the standard or lite, I'd assume one is thicker than the other, possible to handle the increased gunk blown back into the gun by a muzzle brake or compensator. In this case, I'd assume the lite is the thinner one for comped guns. Fact: There are no miracle lubricants. What you lube with is nowhere near as important as that you DO lube. If whatever you're using seems to work for you, stop worrying about it and use it. Claims of magical lubrication properties are advertising hype. If they tried making those claims in the food and drug industry the Feds would have them indited. Last, if it continues to bug you, contact Enos and ask them. They sell the stuff and should be able to answer your questions. |
