I've a Colt series 80 slide atop my Para P14 (was all I could afford when I had the thing built)...  how strong of a slide is this considered to be?  And, can the trigger on a Walther P990 (9mm) be worked over i.e. to "speed" it up so to speak and to lighten the pull?  Thanks ahead for thoughts/suggestions re these two issues.

I have no issues with Series 80 slides, other than the concessions Colt afforded. The integrity of the unit is fine. They're a little more resistant to the press when 'squozing', but this can be a good thing. No Walther 99's have crossed my bench, so I don't feel qualified to advise. Most systems can be improved, however, but do to our litigious society, it behooves the pistolsmith to excercise caution.

Thanks for your reply Kurt.  I'll contact Walther and find out whether or not they might plan to produce a competition trigger for the 99.
