I have a WW1 1911 that ha splastic grips, I also have packaged plastic grips with bushings and screws from WW2

not sure if my WW1 one was redone, but I do know that many had plastic grips, in fact I have never seen any with wood grips....

Thanks. I thought the WWI models had wood grips while the WWII models had plastic.

I have a new Khar Arms GI .45 and it came with plastic grips. Seems like Khar Arms did a great job with improving these pistols over the poor quality when they were under Auto Ordnance. Took it out today for the first time and put 250 rds through it and it only stove piped twice in the first 75 rds. After that it had no jams.

Yes

You will find both on different guns. The 1911 was issued with wood stocks as was the early 1911A1. Later, plastic became standard.

Yes :)

WWI (1911) had double diamond wood.  WWII 1911a1s and arsenal rebuilt 1911s (almost all in military service were updated) had plastic.  Most had brown plastic but I have seen some Colts N.I.B. with black.

Hope this helps,
Jim
