I own a Para ordnance Tac-Four, and recently there was some water damage in my home. My Para has the green polymer(?) finish, but the matte black steel parts have developed some rust, and I really dont know what to do next. I'm just sick over this as my Para is my favorite pistol right now. I searched the forum but didnt find any advice... anyone care to chime in?

Post a photo of the rusted parts.

There is a few options, depending on the amount of rust.

Well, you might be surprised at what can be cleaned up with some WD-40 and 0000 grade steel wool.

For instance, look at the photos below of a mini-30 fished out of a pond.

ETA-- It still shoots too

A little steel makes a lot of rust.

I would use a nylon brush and CLP to brush off the rust. That'll tell you if it just surface rust or if it's pitting. Naval jelly can be used to clean out deeper/widespread rust, but it will also remove/damage many finishes.

Machinisttx,
If you ever want to sell the rifle, let me know.

Since I'm guessing the barrel bore is frosted or pitted, I'm in visioning it as a "6PPC heavy barreled Duracoat, in current pre-state conditions", and would make a good winter project for me.

Actually, the bore is in surprisingly good shape. When I first got it(a kid I work with fished it out of his grandmothers pond), the barrel looked like it was rusted shut and you had stomp the op rod handle to get the action open. After running a steel wool wrapped brush down the bore with a healthy dose of WD, it cleaned up pretty well. It isn't mirror bright, but more than good enough for anything I'll ever use it for.

That'll buff right out!
