I need help, as my Colt Python has stopped shooting double action. The problem started about a year ago, so I put it into the repair shop, and had it repaired. It worked for about a week or two and the same problem reapeared. The transporter turn's the cylinder to far which mean's that three of the chamber's (next to each other) are miss alligned and the this is causeing them to fail to fire. Has anyone got any idea's? PM's please. The German gunsmith with whom I spoke this morning didn't really have a clue as to what the cause could be, that's why I'm throwing the the question in on the forum. Tony |

I know, I saved real hard to be able to buy that gun, it was love at first sight, and I knew that I had to have it. I'm a better shot using double action than single action, so I really need everything to be back in working order. ASAP. In the meantime my DAO. glock 17 is getting at least 2 -300rnd's a month through it. Dont waste your money and buy the 2,000 rnd case of Norinco 9mm ammo, my mossberg give's me better result's using OO buckshot at 25m. Tony |
| Does it lock up properly in single action? The rebound lever controls the timing. It also stops the hammer from falling all the way down when the trigger is pulled and released. It also applies pressure on the hand to make it do its thing. One leg of the hammer/mainspring presses down on the rebound lever to make it work and provides tension on the mainspring so the hammer will work. This one part does all those things. Or it could be that the cylinder bolt is worn. The cylinder bolt has a leg on it that engages a cam that it located on the side of the rebound lever. At what time that leg on the cylinder bolt drops off of the cam on the rebound lever determines the timing. You don't let just any Gunsmith work on a COLT. Most do more harm than good. |

Hiya all, The Python has been on it's travell's now for the last 6 week's, and it still suposed to take another 2 week's. I just hope that when I get it back that it work's. In the single action it perform's flawlessly. I saw a Korth revolver last week, .357mag stainless with a 4"barrel and a 9mm conversion cylinder, it was love at first sight, hope that my Python get's back real soon before I'm tempted to be unfaithfull. The Korth is supposed to be a VERY nice revolver...never seen one myself...but here they are super expensive, and back when the Germans actually used DA revolvers for some Police work, they preferred S&Ws as I recall...of course, that could be due to S&W marketing and the fact that Korth has never tried to go after the LE market. I truly hope your Pony comes back working well. I love Colt and Smith DA reeeevolvers....but damn....I just got done redoing what ended up being a whole action job on a Smith revolver and WHEW...a lot of work. Good luck with your Colt and let us know how she ends up. There is NOTHING like a fine Python. |

Hiya @ all, Well it's back and working well, I now have to get used to the little diferent DA pull, which I nay add is somewhat better than before. I test fired it on Saturday and put about 50 .38sp and 25 .357's through it, without a malfunction. Thank's for your help & intrest. Tony |
