The slide stop which is in my 1911 is so louse that if I turn the pistol on its left side and rack the action it will fall out.  It does not fall out every time but it does work itself loose.  Also It is so loose that when I go to field strip the pistol all I have to do is barley touch the slide stop and it will fall out.

I know this can't be good. I am afraid that it will work itself louse during actual firring. Do I just need to replace the slide stop or what?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Is the pin itself a sloppy fit in the frame ? Is there a dimple in the face of the slide stop where the detent presses on it ? I assume the slide stop detent and spring are in place and of appropriate tension ?

When I put the slide stop in the frame (no barrel) it fits nicely?  There is not really any play it seams to fit good.  There is no dimple on it, just friction marks.  I will eventual replace the slide stop with a better one.  I think maybe the plunger spring is week but I do not know for Sheri.

you can try to stretch the pin spring a little to give more tension, if it works and helps hold the slide stop better then get a new spring.

Make= Brolin 45c  Round count= I have no idea, I got it used because I thought it looked cool and I wonted something cheep to learn about 1911 and how to work on them.

There is a front sight on it now!

There is a good detent in the thumb safety but not in the slide stop.
